This Saturday I’ll be selling at the Prospect Heights Craft Fair. The show is located at P.S. 9 and the proceeds benefit arts programs at the school.

I haven’t had time to sit down and photograph things properly, but these are a preview of what I’ll have available. Above is geometric line art in a chevron pattern.

This one I’m pretty sure will be a hit. Pretty Mother’s Day cards available with rose, yellow or orange flowers. Once I get these photographed nicely I will list them in the shop, but that may be awhile so your best shot is to come to the show this Saturday 🙂

DIY Embroidered Card Kits

I was very sad to discover that my notebook supplier discontinued my standard notebook, which I used in my DIY kits and completed embroideries. Their replacement had a cover that was totally unsuitable for embroidery, so I had to go looking for an alternative so I could restock my popular DIY kits.

I still haven’t found the perfect replacement, but I have found a great way to continue to offer DIY kits: embroidered cards!

Each kit comes with a pre-punched card, an envelope, embroidery floss, an embroidery needle, and detailed instructions to create each card.

There are three designs available right now: dual circles (which can be used to create a variety of designs), a red heart, and a “Mom” script typography –listed early enough that you can finish the card in time for Mother’s Day! You can find all three available here.

Mother’s Day Cards

Mother’s Day is just around the corner. If you need a greeting for Mom, Koto has some options for you! Above you see a favorite from last year.

I also did another color combination of the mother and baby owl card.

There are also two brand new designs. Above, Mom typography embroidered over a petaled pattern. Available in blue on black, magenta on black and magenta on white.

Finally a simple design with a straightforward greeting and a field with flowers. You can see the complete selection of cards for Mother’s and Father’s Days available here.

Valentine’s Day Cards, 2014

I was slightly more prepared this year and got all my Valentine’s cards listed before February! Since the month has now begun (and Valentine’s Day is now on people’s minds) I am featuring the new and updated cards here:

There are plenty of heart cards, in a variety of colors.

I’ve added some red and white flower Valentines,

I’m also renewing a few typographic cards, including this XO design.

Finally, I’m embarrassed to admit that last year I had posted a “teaser” for this tandem bike card and then never got around to posting the finished product. Well here it is!

Holiday Card Roundup: Part 3

Presenting the final roundup of holiday cards in Koto this year!

First up is a modified version of the spring flower card, a festive poinsettia.

I also made some modified versions of successful cards from last year. Above, a geometric Christmas tree. Below, penguin card!

Finally, I created another version of the popular stars card. I had two versions but the other sold out already!

Holiday Card Roundup: Part 2

Next up in this year’s holiday card roundup for Koto are snowflake cards!

Above are a set of four embroidered snowflake cards. Each set features a different snowflake design.

In addition to the blue on white card set, I made a robin’s egg blue on kraft set.

These are my favorite I think, I love how the blue pops on the soft brown. The pictures don’t quite do them justice, definitely an area I need to keep working on.

I also created another single card that features a trio of snowflakes.

This closeup shot gives you a much better idea of how it looks in person. I used iridescent thread on metallic midnight blue cardstock, so that the card has a nice shimmer to it in the light. Click the images for links to the individual item listings, or find them all here.

New Items in the Shop

The past couple of weeks have been insanely hot! The upside is that it makes it easy for me to justify staying indoors to work on getting new items up in the shop.

First up, new constellation cards! Most people don’t recognize the constellation of their zodiac sign, but Orion and the Big Dipper (Ursa Major) are two constellations that are among the easiest to identify. I had gotten a request at a market awhile back for Orion, so I thought I would add a couple more constellations to the constellation series of cards.

I’ve also expanded the selection of notebooks to include these sketchpads. Due to the popularity of the bike mini-notebooks, I added bike sketchbooks. There are also flower sketchbooks and other designs.

I’ve also listed the black and white notebooks that I premiered at the Handmade Cavalcade. These include the small and large versions of the notebooks inspired by the earth houses of Burkina Faso and modified chevron design.

I’ve shot pictures on several more items, and I’m working away on other projects with a big impending deadline, so hopefully I’ll back soon with updates on those!

Koto Showing at the 2013 Spring Handmade Cavalcade

Apologies for the long silence, following a long break after the holidays, I am gearing up for the next big project for the shop. I am very happy to announce that Koto will be showing at the next Handmade Cavalcade on May 4 at The Space in Williamsburg (503 N 3rd Street).

I’ve been designing, poking and sewing away trying to roll out a variety of new products for the show.

Since Mother’s Day is the following weekend I prepared several cards that would be appreciated by moms.

Above you’ll see a mother and baby owl card, a trio of flowers, and geometric MOM text cards.

I’ve also expanded on the super popular bike mini-notebooks and enlarged them into sketchbooks.

In addition to the bikes, you’ll find a variety of geometric patterns on sketchbooks.

These notebooks are inspired by the decorations on the earth houses in Tiébélé, Burkina Faso.

After the show I’ll be updating the Etsy shop with new listings for everything, but to get first shot at these products (and to avoid the wait of me making new inventory), come check out the Spring Handmade Cavalcade, this Saturday, May 4!
